Toronto Wildlife Centre helps animals, then releases them. We shouldn’t throw trash out of the window of our car – even apple cores. Wildlife will get too close to the road. Plant plants that give food to animals, like milkweed. It’s not true that if you touch a baby animal, the mamas won’t feed them anymore, because they smell like humans.

Someone found baby rabbits and did a tic-tac-toe test with string to find out if mommy came for them. She didn’t, so they brought the bunnies to an animal rehabilitation center. In the Assessment Room, they did tests to check for broken bones and other things. They gave the bunnies veggies and formula. They let them go when there were no storms. The rehab center adds sticks and leaves to enclosures to make the animals feel at home. The wildlife guys hide nuts for the squirrels to find.

I wish the book could go on forever. I like all the rescue stories. Those people are so nice to animals. Animals are one of my favorite things. There are a lot of photographs in the book of rescued animals. My favorite picture is the baby mink. I learned to cut up those ICEE drink tops. People who are interested in helping animals should read this book.
