Ancient and Epic Tales: From Around the World

This book has lots of great stories from lots of different places, but they are just a part of the story. So in the story of Gilgamesh, you only read about when he tries to find eternal life. From The Odyssey you read the cyclops story and the one where Penelope has to figure out if it really is Odysseus who came home. There are some Aesop Fables, and the story of when Beowulf fought the dragon. There is even the story of Mulan going to war.

The fun part about this book is that you get to read little bits of stories from all over the world, so there are probably stories you haven’t heard before, as well as a lot of stories you have heard before. This is a good book to find out what stories would be fun to read. The stories in this book are kind of long, so really little children probably won’t want to listen to the whole thing, especially because there aren’t any pictures, but older children will like them. It is a really fun book and if you are interested in great stories from around the world, you should read this book.
