All the Stars Denied
Estrella lives during the Great Depression in a house in Texas with her family, her brother, Wicho, her Mother, and her Father. In the beginning, Estrella’s not thankful for everything she has, until one day her home gets raided. She’s taken away to Mexico. Estrella and her family go through difficult times, being seperated from her father, being forced to live in a corral with little food or water. Estrella, Mom and her brother later go to Mexico City by train. They are able to live in a hotel-like place for one week, but they would need to one, find jobs and two, find a place to live in that time, and that wasn’t it all. Wicho got very sick and their hospital bills become too much to afford. However, a miracle happens. Will Estrella and her family be reunited, will they be able to afford to live?
I would give All The Stars Denied a four. I would recommend to friends, but I wouldn’t read it again. I felt that at some parts things got boring, specifically in the beginning. However, the author was able to make up for the lack of rising action in the beginning, during the middle and the end of the entire story. I also would consider reading the authors other storys, depending on the plot.
