A Snicker of Magic
Felicity Pickle and her mother, dog, and younger sister have always had wandering hearts. Their latest stop is Midnight Gulch, Tennessee. Their mother’s home, it is a brief stop before moving on to the next place, but on her first day of school, Felicity finds something she has never had before: a friend. Jonah has a special kind of know-how that lets him know how to help people around him. Together, he and Felicity begin to unravel the town’s mysterious past, which involves two brothers, musical instruments, and a centuries-old love story. Above all, Felicity must find a way to stop her mother from moving out of Midnight Gulch, which Felicity now feels is her home.
I loved that Felicity is able to see words in the air and around people’s hair and in ice cream and everywhere; it really added a fun element to the book. I really liked that Jonah and Felicity could have a good friendship without it being ‘a romance’, which is very uncommon. I liked the story and the mystery behind the town.
