A Purr-fect Painting: Matisse’s Other Great Cat
A Purr-fect Painting: Matisse’s Other Great Cat by Joan Waites is a very good book. Matisse was a great artist. He was a French man. His art is beautiful! He liked songbirds and cats. My favorite part was when he snipped paper. He used paint too. Henri Matisse painted a bunch, like a bunch a bunch. I really liked his paper designs. It’s the story about Matisse’s cats, mostly the cat called La Puce. The yellow cat ducked his hand inside the fishbowl to get the fish, but Henri Matisse stopped him. Matisse loved his cats, except for the fish accident. He painted his cats doing all sorts of things. His cat, La Puce, actually tells the story! He’s a black cat and there’s also a yellow and brown one. La Puce wants Matisse to paint him, but he keeps making big messes. Will La Puce inspire the great artist? You’ll have to read the book to find out! Sometime, we want to try doing art like Matisse, but our cat won’t sit still!
