A King Salmon Journey
I enjoyed reading A King Salmon Journey written by Debbie S. Miller and John H. Eiler. The book was illustrated by Jon Van Zyle. When I read this book, I learned about the journey of the salmon. Did you know that they swim 2,000 miles? “Salmon have a strong homing instinct and can navigate across the ocean to the rivers where they were born, but how they do this is a mystery!” The characters in this story are lots of different animals, like salmon, which is a fish. There are people on the rivers. There is also a bear that is big and brown. The illustrations in this book show water color pictures of the journey of the salmon. There are a lot of maps, too. I learned that king salmon can swim upstream. My favorite part was when the king salmon ate its meals. I really liked everything about this book. Readers who like fish and children about eight to ten years old will want to read this book. I thought this book was very special because I learned about the fact that the king salmon travels so very far.
