Love & War: An Alex & Eliza Story
Love & War is the second book in the Alex & Eliza series. I want to go ahead and say that the magic I felt reading the first book is completely absent in this one. Now, that doesn’t mean I didn’t think this was good, because I did. I wanted more romance. Instead, we get a lot of filler stuff with it. Uneventful filler, even. Eliza and Alex are newlyweds navigating early American life and war. That’s got to be tough to deal with for anyone, and I like how de la Cruz made me feel as if I were there feeling all kinds of different emotions. Alexander Hamilton and Elizabeth Schuyler were an epic love story. While these books may not all be factually correct, it’s fun to read fictionalized versions of real people. I’ve seen reviews berating de la Cruz for not being completely correct in her narrative. I’m here to tell you to ignore those and approach the story as fun. Yes, there were times that I was extremely bored, but for the most part, I enjoyed the book.
