Description
Roman Truelove has lived a relatively normal life, but when his mom picks him up from school and takes him on a car chase, telling him that his dad has been kidnapped and that his mother is a member of a secret society called “The Blood Guards”, his life becomes anything but ‘normal’. The Blood Guards have existed throughout the ages, protecting the thirty-six noble souls called the ‘Pure’. If a Pure dies before his or her time, the world becomes darker. The evil equivalent of the Blood Guard is Bend Sinister, who is intent on destroying the Pure for their own devilish purposes. Ronan, his friend Greta, and a Blood Guard warrior named Jack Dawkins must recover Greta’s father and Ronan’s parents, and, not least, save the world.
Thrilling and fast-paced, this book was hard to put down and very enjoyable. I liked Ronan and the secret society; I hope that in future books there will be more explanation about the history of the different societies. This is a book that I would highly recommend to anyone who likes fantasy and a enthralling adventure.
