Electronics for Kids: Play with Simple Circuits and Experiment with Electricity!
Electronics For Kids by Øyvind Nydal Dahl is about electronics from cover to cover. The book is divided into twelve sections. It is a how-to book requiring the use of breadboards, wires, transistors, alligator clips, LEDs, and other things that you have to go out to buy at a Radio Shack or some other store that sells these kinds of electronic parts. Using these parts, there are directions to create all kinds of circuits, lights, and memory circuits.
I found the book kind of boring because I am not a tech person, and just looking at the instructions and circuits did not make that much sense to me. But if you are electronically inclined, it would be a good introductory book. The way the book itself is written is good. I liked the way that the author gave a shopping list at the beginning of each project, but it was kind of useless because even Radio Shack doesn’t carry that many specialized electronic parts anymore. Some of the projects need a soldering iron so this is not really for little kids. Love tinkering and making things? Then this book is for you. Want all the parts given to you in a kit? Then this book is not for you.
