Boo! Haiku
This book is not actually a story; instead, this book is bunches of haikus. There is a spooky haiku about—you guessed it!—a witch. The witch has a spooky haiku, too, about—did you guess?—a bat. This bat has a spooky haiku that goes like this, “A bony boogie/rattling around the room/clacking to the beat.” Can you guess what that one is about? If not, you’ll have to read the book to find out! Here is what I learned from this book: “Haiku is a style of Japanese poetry. The hai in haiku means ‘to make light of,’ or ‘to make a joke of.’” I agree with the author who says, “The haikus in this book have a sense of play.” I think that the illustrations are not as bright and colorful as those of another book, Guess Who Haiku—instead, they are dark and moody. I love the haikus best. Boys and girls who love Halloween and haikus will enjoy this book.
