Unlike Other Monsters
This book is about a monster named Zander, who loves surfing. One day, when he is getting ready to come home from surfing, he sees a bird watching him. The next day, Zander sees the bird again. He wants to be his friend. Monsters don’t have friends. When the other monsters notice, they ask if the bird is his friend. Because he doesn’t want to be un-monster-like, he says no. After a few days though, Zander starts to like the bird. He shares his food, he tells him secrets, and goes surfing with him. In the end, Zander and the bird become best friends.
This book has very interesting pictures. I like all the different kinds of monsters. They are all different shapes, sizes, and colors. Two of them have weird tongues. This book is great for when you don’t know what to do, because it is very entertaining. I like the beginning where they’re explaining about Zander and his life. His mother and father are monsters, but his sister is a fairy and his dog is a skunk. It’s a good book for kids who like monsters, but it’s not scary and it’s mainly about friendship.
