Petal and Poppy and the Spooky Halloween! (Green Light Readers Level 2)
This book is like a comic book. How did I know it was a comic book? It’s the way that the pages are organized. There is more than one picture on each page and the characters speak in word bubbles. Are comic books fun to read? Yes! Why are they fun? Because I can read one character named Petal and Mommy would read Poppy. This feels like acting a play and I love plays.
Petal and Poppy are animals. They look like an elephant and a rhinoceros. In this story, it is Halloween and the friends are getting ready to go to a party. Petal is scared of spooky Halloween costumes. Poppy says, “Do not be a scaredy-cat. They are only costumes.” My favorite part was the music at the party. I keep humming music because of that part in the book. The two friends were riding their bike to the party but one of the tires has a puncture. That makes me think, “Yikes!” They stop at a spooky house. Will they get to the party? If you read this fun comic book, you will find out the answer.
