Aw, Nuts!
Squirrel loves acorns. He likes to gather them and eat them any and every way he can think of. Every fall Squirrel gathers acorns and stores them. One day he sees the most delicious-looking acorn he had ever seen. He just had to have it. Squirrel stuffed the most delicious-looking acorn with the rest and then the unthinkable happened – the most delicious-looking acorn bounced away. Squirrel chased the acorn through the streets, using various forms of transportation to catch the runaway acorn. Along the way Squirrel loses a shoe, takes a taxi that runs out of gas, falls in a man hole, rides a truck, rides a dog, hops in a boat, jumps on a horse, rides a little girl’s bike and catches a balloon, just to try to catch the acorn. My favorite picture in the book is when Squirrel is dressed up at a birthday party. This book has many recognizable early sight words and bright colorful pictures.
