Paper Monsters is a cute little book about folding paper monsters. It has 20 interesting and unique monsters to fold. You need no glue or tape; you just need your fingers and the paper and A LOT of patience. Each monster has tabs and slots that are lettered, and you must match the correct letter tab into the same letter slot. For example, the K tab would go into the K slot. One big problem is that there aren’t any instructions. Eventually, their web site will have instructions and videos on how to build them, but they aren’t there, yet. You figure out how to fold it based on trial and error. Some monsters are fairly easy to figure out, while others require a lot more trial and error. Some of the monsters would be very difficult for a tween to do by themselves, and if you accidentally fray the paper, it’s very difficult to get the tabs in. So be gentle. My advice is to use a toothpick to open the slot if it’s too small.

When you figure out how to fold it and actually finish a monster, you feel very satisfied. It is worth the effort! The paper is nice and thick, and the monsters are detailed and look very nice. I’m working at building my monster army, and you should, too! If you like origami, you will love this.
