Kyle is a three-toed sloth, who lives high in the trees of the rainforest. When Kyle needs to go, his mom tells him that he is big enough to go by himself. Kyle Goes Alone follows Kyle as he makes his first trip down to the forest floor to do his business. He is a sloth, so he is very slow, and is nervous to go alone. But every time he can’t see his mom and thinks he is alone, he meets another neighbor who also lives in the tree. Along his way down, Kyle meets a parrot, a snake, a tree frog and ants. Finally, Kyle makes his way to the bottom, holds onto the tree, and does his business.

I wasn’t sure what to expect when I got Kyle Goes Alone to review, but it was so much better than I was expecting. I loved Kyle Goes Alone. I liked that the author and illustrator had Kyle hold onto the tree, and back his way down to do his business, just like real sloths do in the wild. My sister and I liked looking in the pictures for the animals neighbors, who were camouflaged in the tree. The illustrations were really neat, like cutout paper that has been layered. It is hard to describe, you just have to get the book to see it.
