Noni Speaks Up
A girl, Noni, sees Ollie being picked on at school. But she doesn’t speak up for him because she is afraid that her friends will then make fun of her too. So she thinks about how she would feel if people were picking on her, but she still doesn’t stand up for him. One day, she’s at the park and she sees the person who is always getting bullied swinging on the swing. Then this other boy comes up and pushes Ollie off the swing. Noni’s friend laughs because she thinks it’s funny. But Noni decides to stand up for Ollie and they both ignore the bully together.
I like this book because Noni stood up for herself and for someone who was being bullied, and she made a new friend. It made her feel happy. This book will help you know how to react when you see people being bullied, and maybe it will make people think about how other people feel and not bully them. The pictures do a good job showing how Noni and Ollie are feeling, so you can understand them better. Children who want to know how to react to bullying should read this book.
