Stella Brings the Family
In Stella Brings the Family, Stella’s teacher says that the class will be having a special Mother’s Day party, and each child will bring their mother. But Stella is worried because she doesn’t have a mother, she has two dads. Stella’s friends ask her who kisses her when she is hurt or reads bedtime stories. Stella realizes that she has lots of special people in her life who take care of her, Papa, Daddy, Nonna, Aunt, Uncle, and Cousin Lucy. Stella’s friend Jonathan tells Stella to invite all the special people in her life. Everyone came to the party and it was better than expected. Stella tells her teacher that for Father’s Day, she would only be bringing her two dads.
I loved Stella Brings the Family. I liked that it was about a girl who has two dads because not all kids have a mom and a dad. It shows that what matters most is having a family who loves you. I think it was also neat to show a kid whose mom was away in the military. The illustrations were bright, colorful, and fun to look at. I think other kids would like this book.
