Copper Magic
Copper Magic is a fun, magical book filled with great plot twists and characters. It is about a girl named Violet who finds a copper hand by her house. She decides to use it to help her family, so she makes a wish. But, like most wishes, it goes wrong, and she finds not just herself at stake, but the whole town of Pigeon Harbor in danger. Copper Magic illustrates that time period very well and what it would feel like to be poor then. It also has a great, magical plot that keeps you captivated throughout the whole book. The main character, Violet, is a great character and is easy to connect to. I like how the magic talisman is a hand, which is unusual for a talisman, but also very interesting. My favorite part is when Violet first finds the hand, because it is the first glimpse of magic in her little city, and it opens up a whole new world for Violet.
I think this book is very well written to sound like Violet really is from 1906. It also is very descriptive, and it gives you the feel that you are right there in the book. Overall, I think that Copper Magic is a great book ,and I highly recommend it!
