The Case of the Phantom Cat: The Mysteries of Maisie Hitchins Book 3
In The Mysteries of Maisie Hitchins: The Case of the Phantom Cat, Book 3, by Holly Webb, Maisie is on her way to her uncle’s house. When she gets there, there is a phantom cat in a haunted house and she has to figure out whether the cat is real or a fake, and if the house is really haunted. This is perfect because 12-year-old Maisie loves to solve mysteries, so this is right up her alley.
The book takes place in Victorian London, so the language and culture and events are a bit old English and take some getting used to. Although there is some excitement here as Maisie tries to unravel the mysteries, there is not much adventure. I think the combination of the Victorian English culture and the lack of adventure made me not like the book as much as I otherwise might. But if you like mysteries you might like this book. There are also activities, quizzes, and a sneak peek at Maisie’s next adventure at the back of the book.
This book would be good for girls who like mysteries and enjoy things Victorian.
