The Lotterys Plus One
I think that The Lotterys Plus One is a great book. It is about the Lottery family. Basically, here’s how it started: Two gay men and two gay women fell in love. The couples became best friends and had a baby. They then won the lottery and dropped everything to move to a big house, where their family continued to grow bigger. Now, there are seven kids and four adults under one huge roof! One of the fathers’ father was in a fire, and the parents decide to have him live with them (as if there weren’t already enough people in that house), even though the kids had no say in it. The major problem with the new edition to the house is that he is probably the most grumpy person in the world and seems to hate the Lotterys. He is also not used to people with different skin colors (a.k.a. SUPER RACIST!!!!). Now the Lotterys have to learn to live with their grumpy grandfather! I think that the author was very creative when writing this book. It is very hard to find a children’s book that has gay characters, so I like that there are in this book. I also love the plot of the story. It was very interesting to add another character to an already more than big enough family. Overall, the book was very good and well-written, and I recommend it for ages ten to fifteen.
