Wombat Underground: A Wildfire Survival Story
Wombat goes about his day just digging his home out. He is under the nice cool earth and is unaware of the devastation taking place in the forest above where he lives. Skink, Wallaby, and Echidna did live in a lush forest until the dry season. When a storms rolls in and lightning causes a wildfire the animals run through the forest looking for shelter or somewhere they will be safe from the ravaging wildfires. Wombat reluctantly shares his home to give his friends of the forest shelter from the fire.
The Australian wildfires in 2020 were devastating but this book is so informative and answers many questions in the back of the book about wildfires, like some wildfires are good and necessary. While many animals were killed, or even put on the endangered species list, we can hope they make a recovery.
