Walrus Song

I didn’t know as much about walruses before as I do now that I’ve read Walrus Song. In this book, you learn about a walrus who lives and plays in the ice, snow, and water. The walrus is big, with lots of blubber, and he likes to play both by himself and with other animals, just like human kids do. The walrus swims down deep for his favorite food, clams, which I learned are also called bivalves. I would feel cold if I were swimming with a walrus, but because of its blubber, it stays warm and toasty. The walrus naps and fights with the other walruses and sings loudly! This part was funny to see my mom read out loud!

I liked reading Walrus Song because I didn’t know very much about walruses before. The story has rhyming words that make it easy to read and understand, and what I didn’t know, I looked up in the back of the book. The pictures look like they’re painted and the colors are pretty. Kids who like animals and learning about them will like Walrus Song!
