Walk the Web Lightly: A Novel

We rated this book:

$17.95

Walk the Web Lightly, a novel by Mary Pascual, is an okay book. The world-building is weak. There is very little explanation for why something is true, backstory for why someone did something, or explanation for why something exists in the first place. Nonetheless, the plotline is very good and makes sense with what the author does give us.

Walk the Web Lightly is about fourteen-year-old Naya, who dreams of medical school while learning how to walk the lines, meaning to see the future like her family before her. However, when she gets the chance to go to medical science camp her closed-minded grandmother will not let her go.

They make a compromise. If Naya can weave her soul wrap, her artistic representation of herself, she can go; if not, she must promise to leave her dream behind. Challenges rise before her to hinder her goal until one appears that she can’t handle alone.

An appropriate book for the average ten to sixteen year old. I recommend Walk the Web Lightly for classroom use.
