The Magic Thief: Home: Book Four
Conn has everything he could ask for: his horrible uncle is gone, he’s living with his wizard mentor, and his thieving days are over. But when his friend Rowan, the duchess of their city, tries to make him the Ducal Magister, Conn knows that he will never be able to live up to her expectations. When suddenly wizards’ magical stones are stolen, Conn has to give up his magical duties to find them; this may be the return of his uncle, and Conn wants to prevent his return at any cost. But that’s not all. The two magics that dwell in the city have been fighting, and now the least spells are hazardous. Conn must settle the magics, thwart the plot against his friends, and find the magical stones. Looks like relaxing will have to wait.
Conn was a quiet, laconic character, which was a nice change. I loved the setting, which jumped off the page, and the supporting characters were well-crafted. Even though I haven’t read the previous three books in the series, I did not feel lost, and everything from the other books was explained as the book progressed. I hope this isn’t really the end!
