The Luck Uglies

In this book, a eleven-year-old girl named Rye is trying to find out whether the mysterious Luck Uglies and Bog Noblins are back. One night Rye goes out into the bogs and finds a lone Bog Noblin, which is a human kind of thing but with hair all over its face and taller than an average man. They threaten to burn the town down and take everyone’s feet, which they make into necklaces. They were supposedly extinct, but Rye’s friend had overheard a man at their inn saying he had seen one. The Luck Uglies are a people who once protected the town from the Bog Noblins and chased them away; now that Rye has seen the Bog Noblin, she needs to find the Luck Uglies and get them to help save the town again.

I thought this book was a very good mixture of adventure and fantasy. You hardly ever know what’s going to happen next. This book kept me wondering and made me lose track of time because it was so engrossing. I would love to read the other books that will come in this series!
