The Infinite Sea: The Second Book of the 5th Wave
The second installation of The 5th Wave trilogy, The Infinite Sea takes place immediately after the 5th Wave ended. Evan is gone. No one is sure of anything anymore. Cassie, Sammy, and the gang all stake out at an abandoned motel, calculating the Others’ next move. Every character is restless and unsure of what will happen next.
First off, second books are usually duds. The author has to continue the story but the beginning and introductions are in the first book and the climax and resolution has to happen in the last book. So what could Yancey possibly write in The Infinite Sea? Not too much. He couldn’t reveal anything too ground breaking. For the most part, he did a good job with what he could do, but in 300 pages, the book didn’t get as far as I was expecting it to. I was expecting a fast paced, gripping novel that excited me as much as the first book did. Hopefully, the last book will get farther than the second one.
