The Great Henna Party
Noor is a young girl whose cousin is getting married soon, so she gets to join in the celebrations by getting henna on her hands. From her family members, Noor learns about henna: how you can play a type of game with the designs and honor loved ones. Throughout the night, Noor struggles to decide on one family member she wants to honor; she finds good qualities within them all! Will she make the right decision when it’s her turn?
I once had my hands decorated with henna, and I loved everything about it! I love that henna is long-lasting but not permanent. The Great Henna Party taught me more about henna, such as when and how it is used, both things I didn’t know before. The story also taught me about other cultures and customs they follow with important events, such as weddings.
The illustrations are colorful, with many designs and patterns that catch your eye. Family is shown as special to Noor, which I also agree with. Any age will enjoy The Great Henna Party because it teaches the reader about finding the good in others and being thankful.
