The Dolls
Eveny Cheval lived a normal life—at least as normal as any girl who had grown up with her aunt after her mother had committed suicide. Two days before Eveny’s seventeenth birthday, after fourteen years of living in New York, her Aunt Bea decides to move to their hometown in middle-of-nowhere Carrefour, Louisiana. There Eveny meets Gloria Jones, a nice, friendly girl who mysteriously dies that night. She also reunites with childhood friend, Drew Grady, and meets the intriguing (and hot!) Caleb Shaw. And, of course, there are the leaders of the town’s teenage “royalty,” popular kids’ group The Dolls—Peregrine Marchau and Chloe St. Pierre. Will Eveny be able to find out what happened to Gloria? Will she be able to claim her birthright and fix the town before it’s too late?
Right from the beginning, when Eveny and her Aunt Bea are driving into Carrefour, you can already tell that something interesting is going to happen, and it stays that way all the way through. It was kind of exciting to watch as Eveny uncovers more information about zandara—a special kind of magic that she’s actually pretty powerful in, and also finds out the truth about her family.
