I gave The Day We Lost Pet two stars. The illustrations in the book are really beautiful. I like all of the purple, blues, and pinks and that it looks like watercolor. The balloon people are a little different. I don’t really understand why they are inhaling each other, and I don’t really understand why they blew up their own child. I do like the balloon animals and the man selling them with his floating friends sign. I’m not sure if Baby chose a balloon bear or a dog. I couldn’t really tell. I feel bad for Baby when pet dies, but I don’t really understand how it came back as a tree. The dandelion seeds saying “gone” made me feel sad. My favorite page is the page with the spirit animal. I don’t really understand a lot of the science talk. But my other favorite part is where they are holding hands at the end of the story, and I really love the picture on the back of the book. Thank you for the book.
