The Black Stars
The Black Stars by Dan Krokos is a five star book. Mason Stark and his friends are already famous for saving Earth and a planet named Skars from annihilating each other in a previous book. In the first book, the alien enemies, named the Tremist, make peace with the humans because of Mason. Also, in the first book, Mason’s mother and father go missing. Now, in The Black Stars, Mason is determined to find them.
In the Black Stars, the Fangborn are trying to kill both the humans and the Tremist. The Fangborn are like werewolf zombies. When a Fangborn bites any living thing, it turns into a Fangborn. The Fangborn want to be the only civilization and will destroy planets to do it. Mason’s military school is worried that the Tremist are breaking the peace treaty. Mason and his best friend Tom are sent to Skars, the Tremist homeworld, to find out what the Tremist are doing. The boys join the Tremist war school as a cover to search for possible weapons. If I tell any more, I will give away too much of the plot.
The Black Stars is my second favorite book ever. I enjoyed the scenes with fights and electric bolts because I was on the edge of my seat thinking Mason was going to die. If you loved Star Wars or reading any adventure sci-fi series you would love The Black Stars. Overall, this book was like riding a roller coaster for the first time. I was on the edge of my seat wondering what was about to happen. I was shocked to find that Mason had the same issues that I have. Sometimes, I think that any decision I make is the wrong one.
