This book is about a boy named Richard who is a third grader just like me. I found a lot of things I could relate to in this book. I am not a very good speller and I put off doing my homework like Richard. Richard has to learn the hard way how important school is and not to procrastinate in school work, like I have in the past. This book makes me want to read the first book in the Carver Chronicles series by Karen English called Dog Days. This book was at my reading level and I liked that it still had pictures at some points to keep my attention. After I read the story my mom and I had some great things to discuss and talk about like good study habits, not putting things off to the last minute, consequences for my actions, etc. Richard learns an important lesson and he has to choose between doing what he wants and doing what his parents want from him. He wants to do what is right but at his age sometimes it is hard to stay focused. I would recommend this book to my friends.
