The two novellas in Seven Wonders Journals: The Select & The Orphan by Bestselling author Peter Lerangis are a quick but very entertaining read. I learned a few new words, and I enjoyed the not so usual names of the characters. The Orphan is the longer of both stories and is more then twice the pages of The Select. I really like The Select because it takes place on my birthday (just a different year) and Burton’s father had a inscription that was in German and I am from Germany. In both stories the kids have to rescue someone they love. In The Select, thirteen-year-old Burton has to save his dad, and in The Orphan twelve-year-old Daria needs to save her best friend. Burton and his father are sailing on their boat called, The Enigma whereas Daria lives in Babylon where there is a king. I loved both stories and I really liked that the settings of each story could have not been more different. I can not wait to read more of the “Seven Wonders” series.
