Scaredy Cat
Stella Batts is a young girl whose class wins a book contest. This means that her class gets to spend the night at the school library. While she’s there, Stella finds a book by an author named Stella B and an unexpected visitor arrives. Stella has to overcome her fears to survive the night in the library.
Stella Batts: Scaredy Cat by Courtney Sheinmel and illustrated by Jennifer A. Bell, is the ninth book in the Stella Batts series. I think you really do not have to have read the other books in the series before reading this one, but it would be more helpful if you had. Stella is a believable character. The story is written simply and sometimes Stella speaks directly to the reader, making the story more engaging. The point of the story is a good one: that you should always be nice to people because you don’t know who they really are.
This book would be good for readers ages seven to ten, keeping in mind that it is a simpler read.
