Sammy and the Headless Horseman is a story about an eleven-year-old boy named Sammy who goes to visit the Catskill Mountains in the 1920s with his cousin Joshua and his aunt Pearl.

When he gets to the hotel, one of the boys who works there, Adam, tells him that a ghost is haunting the Hermit, a man who lives on a hill near the hotel. Sammy and Adam decide to go ghost hunting at the Pine Grove Hotel and look for the ghost with some other friends. They very soon discover the evil plot someone is trying to use on the hotel and on Zeke the Hermit, so Sammy hatches a cunning plan to save them!

I really liked Sammy and the Headless Horseman a whole lot because it was very spooky, adventurous, and thrilling. Sometimes the book creeped me out a little. Some parts were pretty scary, but I liked that. I would recommend this book for everyone eight and up who likes a good scary book.
