Rio 2: The Junior Novel

Jewel and Blu, our favorite blue spix’s macaws, are back for more adventure in the brand new book Rio 2: The Junior Novel. When they find out there is more of their species, they fly off on an incredible journey where Jewel gets to show her kids where she grew up, and they are happily reunited with family and friends. When Blu accidentally finds himself in the red macaw’s territory, he is challenged to a competition between the two colors of birds. Who will win?

What I really love about this book was how Christa Roberts, who adapted the book from the movie, uses many details, adjectives, verbs and feelings to bring the characters and setting to life. The book also includes eight pages of colorful scenes from the movie. You really feel like you are in the jungle with them!

If you liked the first Rio, then I would definitely recommend this book. Also if you’re into beautiful wild birds then you will love this book. So come read Rio 2 as Jewel, Blu and their family meet new people and discover beautiful new places.
