When I first picked up Renegade, the first book in the trilogy, I was hooked. The story is dark, scary, and it’s definitely one world I wouldn’t care to live in. More often than not, it’s cruel. Yet I wasn’t able to put the book down. Fast forward to now, with the third book out, and I won’t say that I’m disappointed per se, but I was expecting a whole lot more than what I had received. We follow Evie, Gavin, and Asher back down into Elysium to battle it out with the highly unstable Mother. Some questions were answered from previous books and the action was one that kept you on your toes. The romance was my favorite part for many reasons. The love between Gavin and Evie is completely and utterly pure, real, and one-hundred percent selfless. The two have a connection that couldn’t be broken even from the very first time they met each other. Asher was a favorite of mine ever since we met him in the second book. I’m glad he remained with Evie and Gavin. If you’re thinking you want to try these books, do so! It’s beyond unique, and I love the thought of there being an underwater city. And to answer your question, no they aren’t mermaids. They built an actual city under the sea.
