Possum and the Summer Storm
The little possums are playing outside when the daddy Possum calls them inside because he senses a storm is coming. It rains so much that the river washes away Possum’s home.
After the storm, a chipmunk offers to help Possum rebuild his home. The chipmunk and baby possums dig a burrow while Possum searches for leaves. When he returns, he realizes he won’t fit into such a tiny burrow. But the burrow can be their basement.
Muskrat offers to help build a lodge made of reeds and mud over the basement burrow. A wasp volunteers to build some pretty honeycomb-shaped windows. Oriole the bird helps them build a swing on a tree branch above the lodge.
Will the possums be happy in their new home? When a new storm breaks, will their home keep the possums and their new friends cozy and warm? I liked the pictures in this book very much. The designs and colors were nice! The little baby possums are so cute and tiny. I loved it when the baby possums rode on Possum’s back down the raging river!
