One Iguana, Two Iguanas: A Story of Accident, Natural Selection, and Evolution
One Iguana, Two Iguanas: A Story of Accident, Natural Selection, and Evolution was a big deal, telling the story of what shaped some of the most amazing animals on the Galapagos Islands. “One Iguana” refers to the marine iguana, which is the only species of iguana that dives underwater to graze on aquatic plants. “Two Iguanas” refers to the Galapagos land iguanas, which stay on land feasting on prickly pear cactus. When I started this book, I wasn’t as impressed with the information as I was the pictures. The photographs throughout this book are incredible! But starting at page 18, the story of natural selection in the Galapagos really hooked me. This book talks a lot about scientific facts and discoveries, as well as some guesses on what happened before people came to the Galapagos Islands. This book is for science-y people and those who love reptiles, ages seven and up. People of all ages will enjoy the pictures in this book, but some information would be hard to process for younger readers. If you are obsessed with the Galapagos, you will be obsessed with this book!
