No Honking Allowed

Stego and Rex are two dinosaurs riding in Rex’s fast new car. Rex is so excited that he would honk anywhere: for a slow car to move, to make some kids laugh, to scold pedestrians littering. He reminds me of riding with my mom and asking her to blow the horn all the time. Just like mom, Stego, every single time, reminds Rex that signs say, “No honking allowed – except for Safety.” Rex insists on ignoring the signs until there is really a safety issue: a firetruck is trying to get through traffic. Rex has the time of his life, blows the horn as much as he can, and helps the firetruck get through. He’s so excited that he wants to blow the horn in excitement. Stego tries to remind him of the sign, but when Rex insists, Stego says yes just once. Rex does it three times, and then he can’t stop …until a police officer gives him a ticket. And now Rex starts asking Stego over and over for help paying the ticket. But overall it was a fun day, and they were heroes with that fire truck.

I like Rex. He’s passionate and always excited, just like me.
