This book is about a girl, Missy, who likes to read. When she takes the shortcut to school, a boy she doesn’t like always takes her hat. So most of the time she takes the long way to school. She likes to get to school early for the Story Nook, but one day she was late so she took the short cut. When she was there, a crack of thunder came and the lights went out. Miss Brooks says they should tell stories instead of reading them. Violet wants a story about ghosts, and Plum wants one about kittens, but Missy starts to tell a story about her neighbor. She says she was an ogre, and had a snake. Then Missy said that the snake ate the little boy that annoyed her. Then, she ended the story. She told it to everyone the next morning.

This book is very funny. I like the pictures, and I like the stories that the children told. I liked how Missy solved her problem with the boy, and she decided it was fun to tell stories too.
