Forever This Summer (Love Like Sky)
Georgie is moving to Bogalusa, where the only thing she can do without getting in trouble is vacuum. Her mom is being overprotective and won’t let Georgie out of the house without supervision. But, one day, Georgie finally convinces her mom to let her go to the diner to get a summer job, where she meets a girl with only half an arm who is named Markie Jean. Markie’s mom abandoned her when she was a baby, and Georgie really wants to uncover the truth and help Markie find out why. At the same time, Georgie and her best friend, Nikki, are doing a talent show to raise money for Alzheimer’s, which her great-aunt has. Will Georgie and her friends be able to raise enough money and find out more about Markie’s mother?
I recommend this book to anyone who likes stories about friendship and family. Sometimes I lost interest, though, especially in the beginning, because it was slow starting off. I have never known a person who had Alzheimer’s, but it sounds horrible. I learned a lot about that disease, and I think that is what makes this book stand out.
