Don’t Touch
Caddie has a fear taking over her deepest thoughts of mind: she can’t help fearing that if she ever tries touching another person’s skin, her parents won’t get back together. So she wears gloves and shields all her skin. But when she joins a special academy to pursue her dreams of becoming an actress, and gets the most-wanted female part in Hamlet, she does not know the problems ahead of her. She would have to kiss Peter, who got the part of Hamlet. Half of her, desperately, secretly, would love to, but the other half isn’t sure she’s brave enough.
With help from friends that Caddie meets along the way, Don’t Touch is a powerful and touching story of a girl who has to fight a severely increasing anxiety disorder to become Ophelia, and show Peter her true feelings for him. Rachel M. Wilson tells her own story through Caddie’s, knowing that there is always someone to help you overcome any fear. I was very moved by reading this wonderful and compelling story with a surely satisfying ending. Don’t Touch has really influenced me and I hope it will continue to influence other kids as well!
