Dark Divide
This is a great, hard-to-put-down, fast-paced spy thriller with many secrets, twists, and turns. Nadia Riley is sixteen and starting another year at Desert Mountain Academy, but there’s lots more to the school than meets the eye. It is a CIA black-ops facility for high school students, offering everything from martial arts training to decoding. Nadia is continuing her training, recovering from being shot, learning some truths about herself, and then she learns she is being hunted by an ex-classmate whose life she “ruined” when she stopped him from carrying out his mission. As she trains with her friends Jack, Libby, Alan, and Simon, they risk everything to stop Damon and the Nighthawks from their evil plan. This story is well written, descriptive, and pulls you write in. The story is told from several perspectives and provides background information on many of the characters, which lets the reader get to know them on a deeper level. All the characters are well developed, realistic, and compelling, even the “bad guy,” Damon. Anyone over age 12 who likes thrillers and action will enjoy this book, even if they haven’t read the first one. This is an adventure story that will keep you on the edge of your seat.
