A Year to the Day

Leo has done the unimaginable – spent a whole year without her older sister, Nina. Leo doesn’t remember anything about that fateful night, the night of the party and the car crash, the night Nina was taken out of their lives forever. But Nina’s boyfriend, East, does. And he won’t tell her anything, even though Leo feels that she needs to know to heal.

Leo wants East to tell her what happened that night. She needs it, just like she needs Nina. East is the only person who can help her carry the enormous pressure of grief – but East might be carrying a load of his own.

This was an emotional book loaded with grief, love, and the process of healing. It was told in reverse chronological order, which somehow made it even harder to read as I kept seeing flashbacks of Leo’s time with Nina and how much they meant to each other. Some parts of this book were deeply moving, and the strong bond between sisters that transcends death was one of them. It’s a tender book with a beautiful storyline, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a heartfelt story of sisterhood and love.
