A Creature of Moonlight
Marni is a sixteen-year old girl who is soon going to be of age to marry. She lives with her Gramps at the edge of a forest, where girls have been disappearing one at a time. Marni has heard stories about the woods, but she still goes into them, and meets a lady there who is as close to a mother as she has ever known. One day, the Lord of Ontrei comes to propose to Marni, but Marni refuses. The next day, Marni goes out into the woods, but when she comes back, her Gramps is missing and the Lord of Ontrei takes her back to his castle. He takes her out for rides and continues to ask her to marry him until Marni puts an end to that. All the while, the trees have been moving in. Marni gets sent to prison to await execution, because of the trees.
This book was an exciting mix of what would happen if magic was real, and how really anything is possible. I liked how in this book, nothing could make Marni change her mind and she was independent and she got along really well with whatever happened to her.
