A Clatter of Jars
A Clatter of Jars is a book about talents that people have. For example, one person has telekinesis and can make things move with their mind. Another person takes memories out of one person and puts them into another person. There are jars in the lake and if you swim in the lake, will make a bracelet that will make a fake talent. The person who runs the camp that surrounds the lake sells the fake talents to whomever will buy them. In the end, one cabin of kids at the camp stops the person from selling the fake talents, because mimicking someone’s talent without telling them is dangerous.
I thought this book was funny because one of the kids at the camp have some unusual talents that they use in unexpected ways. The kid that could take things out of people’s pockets and replace it with other things—like when he took a harmonica from someone’s pocket and put in a candy bar—made me laugh. I thought the beginning of the book was confusing but it all made sense at the end.
