The Dandelion’s Tale
This book is about a Sparrow and an old Dandelion who become friends. The Dandelion is sad because she thinks no one will remember her after she dies. The Sparrow offers to write the Dandelion’s story on the dirt. I liked how the Sparrow is patient, kind and helpful, writing for hours about the Dandelion’s past. The drawings have lots of colors. My favorite two pages have a large drawing of all kinds of insects, birds, leaves, springtime flowers and even a person with a dog flying a kite. During the rainstorm, the Sparrow is worried about the Dandelion. I thought the drawing of the rainstorm was scary. In the picture, Sparrow looked like his wings may have gotten hurt. The wind was too strong for the Sparrow to check on the Dandelion. A few weeks after the old Dandelion dies, there are baby dandelions growing by the dogwood tree. The little dandelions are excited to hear Sparrow’s story. I feel happy that the old Dandelion’s wish to be remembered comes true in the end.
