Forgotten Beasts: Amazing creatures that once roamed the Earth

Forgotten Beasts is full of drawings of lots of strange animals. Some are cute and some are terrifying. The whole book is about animals that are extinct and died a long time ago. My favorites are Edestus and Stethacanthus, two sharks that are really cool and extinct. Edestus weighed as much as two tons! The little Stethacanthus only weighed as much as a little pet dog. I really like sharks. Some sharks are endangered species today. Another shark also went extinct, Helicoprion, which has teeth on its mouth and its chin.

Lots of these animals were huge, bigger than animals alive today. And I like the tiny creatures that fit in the palm of your hand. Some of these animals are different types of animals that live right now, like the Sarcoduchus, a relative of the crocodile, or mammoths, which are close relatives of elephants.

Extinction means that all of the animal’s kind died. I’m thankful for people that try to protect endangered animals to keep them alive. I learned about lots of extinct animals that I hadn’t known existed. I would give this book two hundred stars if I could.
