Confessions of a Teenage Leper
There’s nothing quite like being a high school leper. Literally. Abby Furlowe had what every high school girl dreams of: popularity, beauty, and boys. When she starts to notice little scabs and sores over her body, however, everything starts to change. After several wrong tests and a cheer pyramid accident, Abby is finally diagnosed: she has leprosy. Ashley Little weaves a tale that takes us with Abby as she is sent off to a treatment facility and slowly learns an important lesson: beauty isn’t everything.
At first, I was a little skeptical of Confessions of a Teenage Leper. It appeared to be just the usual high school drama; however, the further I got into the book, the more intrigued I became. Abby’s brother, Dean, brought just the right amount of humor to difficult situations (fast becoming my favorite character) and as Abby started to develop beyond the high school walls, I came to like her more and more. She displays the strength and courage found in every high school teen, if they only dig deep enough, and it was a pleasure to go with Abby on her journey of self-discovery.
