Absolutely Alfie & the Furry, Purry Secret
Alfie is excited for the last two weeks of summer. Her mother has arranged for her to have a playdate every day with her classmate Hannie. The first day at Hannie’s house, Hannie shows Alfie some very cute kittens. Alfie wants a kitten so much, but her family doesn’t allow pets. However, eventually the temptation becomes so great that Alfie brings one home with her. Will Alfie be able to keep the kitten a secret? Or what will happen if her parents find out? You will have to read the book if you want to know!
This book is the first book in a series about Alfie, written for children who are probably around eight or so. They will probably like Alfie and feel like they can understand what she is feeling. It has easy words and a quick story, and pictures every three pages or so, so it’s good for children who are just starting chapter books. The story is funny and exciting, and it keeps you wondering if Alfie is going to be able to keep her pet. Older children will probably find it too easy but still think the story is cute.
